He cares for you

Dear God,

Please take care of me. I am counting and depending on you. A lot of times I get discouraged and afraid that you will forget about me…but I know that’s not true because in your Word you tell us that you will never leave us or forsake us.  I just get scared.  I don’t know my future and what sorts of things You have in store for me and honestly, that shakes me up a bit.  But I know that You give us what is good for our souls and what will make us most like You.  Help me to not doubt you. Help my unbelief. Help me to believe that You really will take care of me even when I feel like you aren’t and You won’t. I have no reason to think that you won’t take care of me because You have always taken care of me.  Help me to rely on Your promises and never to forget them.  Help me to write them on my heart. Also, help me to remember that this is not my home and I am only here but for a little while.

“But the land that you are going over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water by the rain from heaven, a land that the LORD your God cares for. The eyes of the LORD your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.” –Deut 11:11,12

“But the LORD’s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage. “He found him in a desert land, and in the howling waste of the wilderness; he encircled him, he cared for him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.” –Deut 32:9,10

“You have granted me life and steadfast love, and your care has preserved my spirit.” –Job 10:12

“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.” –Psalm 8:3,4

“…for the LORD of hosts cares for his flock, the house of Judah, and will make them like his majestic steed in battle.” –Zechariah 10:3

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” –1 Peter 5:6,7

“Then the LORD said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.'” –Jeremiah 1:12

Help me to write these truths upon my heart so that when unbelief creeps in, I am ready.  You will not forsake your Word because You are Your Word and You are perfect, therefore Your Word is perfect and true. Help me to love, trust, and believe you more.  Thank you that You never stop loving me and that You will never, ever let me go.

Forever in Your unfailing love,

Mary Margaret

PS: Thank you that you for the old hymns and hymnwriters. Thank you so much for inspiring these incredible men and women to write such incredible truths in the form of verse. It has has been such a help to my heart in hard times. The one especially on my heart tonight is “On Jordan’s Stormy Banks I Stand.”

On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand,
And cast a wishful eye
To Canaan’s fair and happy land,
Where my possessions lie.

All o’er those wide extended plains,
Shines one eternal day;
There God the Son forever reigns,
And scatters night away.

No chilling winds nor poisonous breath
Can reach that healthful shore;
Sickness, sorrow, pain and death,
Are felt and feared no more.

When shall I reach that happy place,
And be forever blessed?
When shall I see my Father’s face,
And in His bosom rest?

-Samuel Stennett, 1787
